As the holiday season approaches, cities across the country light up with festive decorations and special events. Among these, Let’s Glow SF shines particularly bright as one of the largest holiday projection mapping experiences in the country. This enchanting event transforms the vibrant streets of downtown San Francisco into a wonderland of immersive winter scenes, captivating residents and visitors alike.
The Vision Behind Let’s Glow SF
What began as an initiative to breathe new life into downtown San Francisco after the pandemic has blossomed into something remarkable. In recognizing the need to invigorate the central business district, Downtown SF Partnership collaborated with A3 Visual and Panasonic Connect to launch its inaugural projection mapping event, Let’s Glow SF, in December 2021. This innovative event aimed to invite visitors back to the city’s core and provide support for local businesses.
The experience resulted in a remarkable increase of 36,000 in foot traffic throughout the Financial District and created an impressive economic impact of over $2 million in the first year alone. Since then, Let’s Glow has continued to expand, producing $8 million in economic benefits and attracting over 67,000 attendees during its ten-night run last year.
Now in its fourth year, this year's Let’s Glow SF promises to be even larger and more vibrant with seven locations, including the top of Salesforce Tower, and an expansion into East Cut and Annie Alley. The event will run from December 6 through 15 from 5:30–10 p.m. nightly, and feature breathtaking large-scale animated light installations created by 16 artists and design studios from around the globe.
Cutting-Edge Technology for a Flawless Experience
The magic of Let’s Glow stems from its innovative use of high-quality projection mapping that transforms ordinary buildings into vibrant canvases. This year, A3 Visual and Downtown SF Partnership have deployed 13 Panasonic Connect high-brightness, high-resolution PT-RQ35 3-Chip DLP 4K projectors to deliver stunning, eye-catching visuals immersing attendees at the center of the action. The high-resolution images and vibrant colors illuminate the intricate details of the buildings, creating a captivating experience, creating a sense of wonder and excitement.
