This spring, Panasonic Connect will showcase some of its newest broadcast and media production tools at NAB Show Las Vegas, the annual Vegas-based exhibition hosted by the National Association of Broadcasters. Of course, media production tools are always evolving, and Panasonic Connect strives to provide creators with more options to achieve the highest-quality content production.
That’s why the team was back at it again on October 9 and 10 at NAB Show New York. Panasonic Connect joined a multitude of exhibitors at New York City’s Javits Center to showcase some of the most exciting media production tools that will be unveiled throughout 2025.
Better Connectivity Across Devices With Expanded NDI Support
High-end video production used to require masses of snaking cables to connect devices such as cameras, switchers, and mixers. However, with advancements in IP technology, the connectivity of media production is changing. Content creators no longer need to be reliant on miles of cable.
Network Device Interface (NDI) is a video connectivity standard that simplifies high-quality, low-latency transmission of video and audio across devices, eliminating the need for excessive cabling. Panasonic Connect is including NDI, as a free firmware update, for over 80,000 media production devices currently in use. This upgrade will be available between December 2024 and April 2025 and will affect Panasonic Connect devices, including:
- PTZ Cameras
- Studio Cameras
- 4k Multipurpose Cameras
- Compact Switchers
- Kairos Live Production Platform
- Video Mixer Plug-in for Media Production Suite
Expanded NDI support in current and future products will allow for more nimble content production. It will also future-proof equipment, enabling a smooth transition from classic media production environments to IP video production.
Easy Media Production in Any Environment With New AK-UCX100 4K Studio Camera
Studio cameras are fantastic tools for capturing high-quality video. However, for live event and rental and staging professionals, these cameras often lack the versatility to be used across the various environments where they work.
Panasonic Connect’s new AK-UCX100 studio cameras provide that versatility. Whether in-studio or on location, these cameras allow for high-quality media production with minimal equipment needs.
- Image Quality. AK-UCX100 cameras feature a new imager with high sensitivity and dynamic range that translates into beautiful images across any lighting environment. Even LED challenges are accounted for with optimized colorimetry and an HD low-pass filter, making for the best possible image quality across any shooting environment.
- Versatile and Flexible Design. Shoot in the studio or on the road — the AK-CX100 works equally well with or without a camera control unit (CCU). This versatility means video creators can rely on this one camera for studio shoots and live event captures, minimizing overall equipment requirements and costs.
- IP Capability. AK-UCX100 cameras support multiple input and output options including 12G-SDI, NDI High Bandwidth, SRT, and SMPTE 2110 at 25 Gbps. This allows creators the flexibility to work in baseband or IP environments and to easily transition between them.
New Multi-Purpose Cameras Allow for Expanded Creative Possibilities
Content production is no longer only for broadcasters and live entertainment. Video is now an essential tool in both corporate and educational environments:
- 91% of businesses currently use video marketing, with 88% citing it as an important part of their overall strategy.
- Over 80% of educators view video as a positive tool for education in numerous ways, with 88% stating video technology is essential.
Different environments call for different media production tools. Panasonic Connect’s new AW-UB50 and AW-UB10 multi-purpose cameras — available starting in early 2025 — were designed to meet these needs.
- Box-style design (under 10 cm in height, width, and depth — not counting the lens) allows for easy, unobtrusive installation in any environment.
- Large format sensors ensure high resolution and vibrant colors, ensuring high-quality images.
- Dual SD slots, autofocus capability, compatibility with multiple inputs/outputs, and future updates (such as AI tracking and framing) are just some features that simplify workflows and ensure the best possible end products.
- Expandability allows for customization and easy remote operation to meet function and site-specific needs.
The Panasonic team will also be debuting new professional camcorder models at NAB Show Las Vegas. The compact 4K 60p 10-bit professional camcorders feature a 25mm wide angle, 24x optical zoom, and NDI HX2-compliant IP connectivity (for AG-CX20). AG-CX20 is one of the two high-end models (along with HC-X2100), and it features state-of-the-art optical technology and a lightweight and compact chassis design that delivers increased mobility to achieve high-quality video production and live streaming in a variety of professional filming environments. These camcorders will be available in early March.
